For seven years, Dan, Garry, Mike and Paul ran an education recruitment agency. We placed supply teachers into schools across the UK, chased references by hand, and dealt with the same broken processes every other agency faces.
We saw first-hand how the system fails both sides. Agencies waste hours chasing references that never come back. The people who can give the reference, a former headteacher, a line manager, another agency, are busy, so the chase drags for days. Candidates are stuck in the middle, waiting.
Mike, a former teacher himself, understood the school side. The rest of us knew the agency side inside out. Together we'd seen the full picture, and we knew it could be better.

PassQ is what came out of that. We built it to fix what we couldn't fix from inside an agency: chasing that runs itself, checks that don't slip through, and a compliance process that respects everyone's time. It started in education, where we lived it. The same system now runs care and healthcare too, because the job is the same everywhere: get good people cleared and working, fast.
Today we run our own placements on PassQ every day, and we build it for the agencies we used to compete with. We know what they need because we needed it too.
